The 3rd virtual Smart Tourism Meet-Up of tourism professionals is around the corner – it will take place on Wednesday, 12 May 2021, from 10h to 13h CET. This event was launched during the strictest lockdown in May 2020, and it attracted more than a thousand tourism professionals and prominent experts, primarily from the private sector, who shared positive ideas and insights about doing business in pandemic times.
For this edition, the topics relate to the educational needs and expertise needed in the tourism industry since the sector has traditionally been heavily engaged in exhibitions, conferences, and other live events. The topics will relate to tourism developments in Croatia and southeast Europe in general. This year’s experts will discuss new trends featuring Corona travel, hybrid events, digitalization, and digital nomads. Yet, it will also discuss management tools related to the customer journey, service excellence, crisis management, CRM, and email marketing, and many others.
The Key Note Speaker will be Jan de Jong, a Dutch businessman living in Croatia for fourteen years, and owner of Webpower, an email marketing provider. Besides several successful entrepreneurial projects, Jan pushed for establishing the residence permits for digital nomads in Croatia, he succeeded in changing the laws, and finally created the Digital Nomad Association in Croatia. It was precisely at the 1st Smart Tourism event when Jan raised this topic for the first time in public. One year later, we will hear about his experience, which benefits the country in many aspects.
