The HTI Conference (Health Tourism Industry Conference) celebrated its 10th anniversary on 17th November 2021 in a virtual international conference named „HTI on Air“ instead of at the traditional European Summit in the European Parliament in Brussels due to actual covid-restrictions. The Croatian National Tourist Board was the Exclusive & Gold partner of a closed session that gathered around 60 partners from HTI’s international network of health tourism professionals from 18 countries and four continents. For many years, the CNTB has been one of the key strategic partners actively supporting HTI conferences, exhibitions, hosted buyers’ programs, and other promotional activities in the health tourism sector. Therefore, the CNTB Director of Tourist Boards Network and Product Development, Ms. Slavija Jačan Obratov, was a special guest of honor who greeted the participants at the event opening.

Many strategic HTI partners attended the event, such as leaders of the European Spas Association, European Historic Thermal Towns Association, Joint Commission International, ITB Berlin, Visit Berlin, Croatia Health Tourism Association, Slovenian Spas Association, Aspira University College, Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Opatija, Kvarner Health Cluster, Indian Foundation of Healthcare and Wellness Promotion, Lucia Magnani Health Clinic from Italy, and many other prominent professionals, experts, agents and facilitators from 18 countries worldwide.

The highlight of the opening session was the presentations of birthday perks, including discount vouchers and free services offered to all participants by HTI preferred partners such as Croatia Airlines, Stories, Croatian Unique Hotels, and LeadMarketing agency. Afterward, a networking session consisting of three thematic chat rooms opened the opportunity to share ideas and insights from different areas: health tourism events, medical facilitation, and spa & wellness. Ivana Kolar, organizer of Tourism365 International Conference and Thomas Bomkes, Head of Medical Tourism Pavilion at ITB Berlin were hosts in the chat room devoted to health tourism events. Ivan Rendulić, CEO of RexRea, Croatia and Christian F. El-Khouri, Managing Director of MESC IPS, Germany – both medical facilitators and consultants – hosted the networking chat about medical facilitation and its challenges. Finally, Marcel Medak and Iztok Altbauer, leaders of Health Tourism Association of Croatia and Spa Tourism Association of Slovenia, respectively, guided the discussion on medical spas and thermal tourism. Once again, HTI offered a content-rich networking opportunity to all those interested in meeting and acquiring new business partners worldwide.
